Venezuelan singer grateful to Emilio Estefan
Miami, Nov 5 (IANS/EFE) Norka is living her dream of being a singer thanks to producer Emilio Estefan, the man behind the impending release of her debut CD, ‘Milagro’.
It was four years ago that the young Venezuelan first met the award-winning producer of albums by his wife, Gloria Estefan, and other stars such as Shakira, Thalia and Jennifer Lopez.
‘I can’t tell you exactly what it was I said to him. In that moment I spoke from my soul and I was inspired because I was very moved,’ Norka Dubrasca Soraya Martinez Luke said in an interview with EFE, recounting the 2007 encounter with Emilio at a party in Miami.
But Norka had no hesitation in sharing with Estefan her dreams of stardom, and the producer opened the doors of his Crescent Moon studio to the aspiring singer.
After four years of work and preparation – including singing lessons and a diet/exercise regimen to shed 70 kg – Norka’s first CD is set for release in January.
She says that of the album’s 12 songs, the ‘most special’ is the title cut, ‘Milagro’ (Miracle), because ‘it speaks of this whole story of how I came to make this disc and how I came to Senor Emilio’.
